C15

1.0401 is a case hardening steel with 0.15% carbon content. It is a relatively low strength steel but it may be quenched and tempered for increased strength.

Sometimes considered a borderline grade of steel.

Main properties include such as: high Forgeability, reasonably good cold formability, and excellent weldability.

Hot working:

Forging temperature range: 1250-850℃

Note: Heat to 1280 ℃. Do not forge below 850.

Main application:
